Symptoms

There are different types of anxiety disorders – including panic attacks, social anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder –  here are some of the most common symptoms.

  • Racing thoughts
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Feelings of dread
  • Irritability
  • struggling sleep oversleep
    Sleep and appetite problems
  • Fast breathing and heartbeat
  • Hot flushes and blushing
  • Shaking
  • Dry mouth
  • Extreme lack of energy
  • Dizziness and fainting
  • Stomach aches and sickness

Treatment

Many people use self-help methods to manage and improve their anxiety disorder. You can find out more on our self-help page. 

Talking therapy can really help too, either one-to-one or in a group. Medication can also be prescribed, and both of these options are available on the NHS.
